Commitment to build a digital Bangladesh
Details

Our commitment was to establish a hunger and poverty free "Digital Bangladesh" by 2021 by using digital technology. We are moving towards that goal. At present, 200 kinds of services are being provided to the people through 5,275 digital centers in the country's unions, municipalities, upazilas and districts, ”said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina while inaugurating Digital World 2015, the country's largest IT-based event, at Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital on Monday afternoon.

The Prime Minister said, "When we came to power in 1996, we broke the monopoly of mobile phone connection. As a result, more than 12 crore SIM cards are being used in the country of 160 million people today. The implementation of e-governance has become a lot. Bangladesh will launch an artificial satellite in two years.

The Prime Minister said, "During that period, I lifted the import duty and tax on computers and their components on the advice of Sajeeb Wazed Joy." The Prime Minister laughed and said, "My computer means digital technology to Joy."

The Prime Minister said Bangladesh has to deal with man-made disasters as well as natural disasters due to its geographical location. We have to deal with such a disaster for a month. Those who do not see development, are blind, they have to keep an eye. He added, "People who can burn people every day are people, it's hard to believe. Repeatedly they will hinder development. This barrier must be overcome. We want to move forward with everyone. "

Speaking on the occasion, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, son of the Prime Minister and his Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Adviser, said, "Five years ago, there was no such thing as IT in the country. At that time, the export income from the IT sector was 25 million US dollars, which stood at 250 million. No one could have imagined what has happened in these five years. My hope is that soon the export earnings of the IT (IT) sector will increase more than the garment industry. '

He said steps would be taken to bring the SAARC countries, including Nepal and Bhutan, under connectivity.
State Minister for ICT Junaid Ahmed and Secretary of ICT Department Shyam Sundar Sikder also spoke on the occasion. BASIS President Shamim Ahsan gave welcome speech.

At the beginning of the program, a minute's silence was observed in homage to the language martyrs. In addition, the video of the theme song of Digital World was shown in the program. A laser beam display of Digital Bangladesh was also displayed on the roof of the Hall of Fame. The Prime Minister inaugurated the event using special holographic technology.

The Digital World, organized by the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services-BASIS, the government's ICT department and software business organization, will run until February 12. It will be open to everyone from 10 am to 8 pm every day. A2I Project and Bangladesh Computer Council are the collaborators in this event.

Organized with the slogan 'Future is Here' (Future is Here), the digital world has the opportunity to host exhibitions, seminars, various youth initiatives and experience in the use of new technologies in various public and private services, software and IT services.
